Prize draw launched to raise funds for Marie Curie
On 24th February a prize draw was launched to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer care with an exciting first prize of a painting by Chris Billington, a Cornwall based modern British artist.
Internationally recognised as being one of the most exciting British modern artists painting today his exhibitions to date include the UK, USA, France, Germany, Holland and Spain, with work in museums and private collections worldwide. Marie Curie is a cause close to Chris’ heart as they looked after his mother in her hour of need. He has supported the local group for 5 years with his generous donations of paintings to raise funds at our auctions at our biennual Diamond charity ball. This is the first time in many years that Chris has painted a picture of the Lizard area – The Bridge at Gweek – and he has donated it to the Marie Curie Cornwall appeal.
There are further prizes of a stay at The Alverton, Truro, a colour analysis by Katrina McCarron and a voucher for lakeside Cafe, Newquay,
All the funds raised will go directly to supporting the vital service offered by the 30 Marie Curie Nurses here in the county – who last year cared for 291 patients in their home – free of charge. By supporting the evening you will help the Marie Curie Nurses to care for even more terminally ill cancer patients who wish to spend their last days in their own homes surrounded by their families and pets. £20 pays for an hour of Marie Curie nursing care.
The prize draw will be drawn at a Blooming Great Tea Party in July.
Tickets are just £2 each and can be purchased from the local Marie Curie office at 3, Green Street, Truro or by phone 01872 260500.
